If you have read and agree to the basics, let’s get started! Here is what you’ll need to do.
- Send me an email: Email melissajacobsenart@gmail.com with an email subject that clearly identifies that you are interested in a commission. I get quite a few spam emails to this inbox, so be sure your subject is clear!

Describe what you are looking for: In your email, briefly describe what it is you are hoping to have created. Things to include are:
- The type of piece you want
- The size (exact is great, but “large” or “small” is fine too at this point)
- The subject and your ideas (here is where you tell me all the cool stuff you want to see - get wild with details! The more, the better!)
- If there is a deadline
- If you have a specific budget
- Any other must-know information
- Watch your inbox: Once I receive your request, I will review it and reach out to you. We will discuss your project to make sure we are both on the same page when it comes to subject, medium, size, timeline, and - most importantly - price.
- Sign your contract and submit your deposit: As soon as we are in agreement, I will provide you with an electronic contract and a link to provide your deposit. (If you choose to provide your deposit in person, that’s fine too - we can discuss) As soon as the contract is signed and the deposit is submitted, I will get to work!
- Let me Work! When commissions are open, I will usually start pieces within 24-48 hours of receiving the deposit. If we have talked during a period where they are closed, your commission will start at the beginning of the next opening window. (Example: if you sign your contract in March, your project starts April 1. If you submit your contract in mid-June, your project will start September 1.)
- Finally…submit your balance and enjoy! Once the work is completed, and you have approved of the final project, I will send you a link to pay the remainder of your balance due. Once that amount is paid, I will ship the item to you.
Things to know:
- If you do not approve of the final product, your deposit is non-refundable but I will not require you to pay the balance. Unless otherwise specified in our contract, your item will then be offered to my VIP list and social media audience for whatever the “balance due” amount was to complete the piece.
- Shipping does not happen until the balance is paid and cleared. Therefore, if you have a strict deadline for your piece to be completed/delivered, be sure to pay your balance on time!
