Here we are once again. The weather is changing seasons, and my art is following the pattern. The summer drop has closed, and the fall art drop is here. Each season, I put together a collection of art that is available for one season and one season only. Within these twelve original pieces are brand new works as well as occasional “archive re-releases.” It’s a mix of drawings, paintings and mixed media pieces. You never really know what you’ll get season to season, and I like to keep you guessing!
If you’re new here, an “art drop” simply means that I drop all of that season’s available work on one day, and it is available for the duration of the drop (about three months), and once that “seasonal drop” is over, those pieces are gone. Every one of my twelve original works in each season is also available in small and large sized prints, but even those are limited. I love working this way because it gives me space to focus, build a body of work, and then share it as a whole. Sometimes it’s a collection of pieces that are completely unrelated, and sometimes you’ll see a clear theme. Today, I want to share a closer look at my fall collection. Let’s talk about what’s in it, the ideas that shaped it, and a little about how it came together.
While this season’s work doesn’t all fit into one specific “theme,” I do have a few recurring mini-themes throughout these twelve new pieces. With my fantasy landscape paintings, you’ll notice a number of water-themed pieces, a lot of vivid colors and an overall feeling of tranquility. I included three sports pop-portrait acrylic paintings this season, honoring some of the biggest names in Chicago sports, covering the past and present. And I even brought back my classic sports portraits in this season, capturing the energy of two Chicago Cubs players in the style that built my following - classic black and white portraiture.
This collection came together both as a result of what I wanted to create and what you wanted to see. In my first seasonal drop - my summer drop that just ended - I sent out a survey to my VIP list that asked what they loved, what they didn’t enjoy, and what they wished was in future collections. I listened, and found what I think is a great balance between what excites me and keeps me growing…and the classic pieces my audience has always loved. I picked twelve of my favorite and most exciting subjects, and I brought them all together in a really fun, colorful collection.
Let’s visit this season’s gallery, piece by piece.
Fantasy Landscape Paintings:
-
Quiet Witness - 11x14 acrylic painting - The smallest piece in this season’s collection, “Quiet Witness” is a small piece of tropical tranquility through a vibrant, colorful ocean wave. It closes out the day and makes us feel like we're right there, taking in the final moments of daylight on a private, secluded beach.
-
Little Birds - 10x20 acrylic painting - A grouping of rocks in deep shadow under the orange light of a day near its conclusion, this painting is equal parts calm and whimsy. The calm is in the colors and the peaceful water, and the whimsy comes when you notice the three little birds taking it all in on the rocks beside you.
-
Overlooking Paradise - 18x24 acrylic painting - One of two large-sized paintings in this season’s collection, ”Overlooking Paradise” takes you to your own, private beach home, where waiting for you is a secluded beach - an oasis just for you. Sunshine, sand and a double rainbow are waiting for you to come out and play.
-
Into Brighter Days - 18x24 acrylic painting - The other of my large paintings for the season, “Into Brighter Days” is a visual representation of the victory of making it through the hardest of times. It’s the encouragement to keep climbing out of the cave, and a reminder to guide those you love to the brighter days just beyond the dark.
-
Gentle Affection - 16x20 acrylic painting - Two Hyacinth Macaws perched on a branch atop a tropical paradise forest, these two birds symbolize love, loyalty and affection. It speaks to not only the connection between two birds, but to our human desire to connect with others.
-
Neon Jelly Gang - 16x20 acrylic painting - Bright, colorful and fun, these jellies are inviting you into their dark, mysterious but colorful world. Bring your party pants and your feel good vibes, these neon jellies are ready to show you a great time.
-
Siren’s Twilight - 11x14 acrylic painting - Another smaller piece that makes a big impact, this painting depicts the mystery and beauty of the ocean at night. Sparkling seas, deep colors and even the mystery of the mermaids coming out to play in the moonlight. Wish upon those shooting stars to stay in this moment forever.
Pop-Portrait Paintings:
-
North Side Instinct - 14x18 acrylic painting - A painting all about “PCA,” Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Chicago Cubs All-Star center fielder. Featuring the red brimmed cap worn at the 2025 MLB All Star Game, this painting is a nod to his status as the Cubs "MVP," or rather, MVPCA.
-
Relentless - 16x20 acrylic painting - Honoring one of the greatest to play the game, “Relentless” is an up close portrait of the late Walter Payton - one of the all-time greats of the Chicago Bears. Intensity captured in a focused stare, this piece is all about respect, honor and drive.
-
Home Ice Hero - 14x18 acrylic painting - If you watched the Blackhawks during their “banner years” of the 2010s, you understand the impact of Duncan Keith. This painting celebrates the winning goal of the last of the three cup wins, and captures the intensity and passion of Chicago’s #2 in one single image.
Classic Pencil Portraits:
-
King Tuck - 11x14 pencil portrait - There’s a reason they call him “King Tuck,” and since coming to the Chicago Cubs, his impact has been that of a true king. On the field and off, Kyle Tucker is an All-Star. This classic portrait shows his jog around the bases and honors his royal nickname.
-
Dansby Dingers - 11x14 pencil portrait - One of the most recognizable names (and heads of hair) in the MLB, Dansby Swanson hits dingers. He’s a two time All-Star, a World Series Champion, and almost always in the conversation for a Gold Glove…on top of being a spectacle at the plate. This classic portrait would anchor any Cubs fan’s collection.
This drop was both easier and more challenging than my summer drop in different ways. It stretched my abilities in that I had to create twelve brand new pieces - there were no archive re-releases in this collection! I conquered two large paintings, and even my medium sized ones were more intricate in nature. The pieces I created were time consuming, but the ease came in the subject matter. It was a fun collection, it allowed me to return to one of my original art passions - Chicago Sports - and it gave me the opportunity to really listen to what my audience wanted to see. This season’s collection taught me a lot about pace, setting realistic deadlines and understanding how much I can take on in any given time. As each drop starts and then rotates to the next, I’m going to get better and better, not just in the work itself, but in understanding my own natural rhythms.
I invite you to take a moment and view the full collection here - check out the pieces, see what speaks to you, and even comment below with your thoughts (including what you want to see in future collections!) This Fall Art Drop collection is available only through November 30, so if you see something that calls you, claim it as early as you can. Original art makes an incredibly thoughtful gift. If you see an original art piece and someone you know and love immediately pops into your head - that’s the perfect gift.
If you’re new here, welcome, and I hope reading this inspired you to follow along!
